Neal’s Sweet Tooth Adventures – Exploring Paris Baguette and Tous Les Jours

As a parent, there’s nothing sweeter than watching your child’s eyes light up with pure joy—and for our youngest, Neal, that joy often comes in the form of sugar. Whether it’s a flaky pastry, a gooey donut, or a chewy boba pearl, Neal’s sweet tooth leads us on some pretty fun adventures. One of our favorite ways to spend a slow afternoon together is visiting local Asian bakeries like Paris Baguette and Tous Les Jours.

Stepping Into a World of Sweets

The moment we walk into one of these bakeries, Neal goes into what I can only describe as dessert detective mode. He studies every display case with serious intent, scanning for the best treats to try. While he’s not a fan of egg tarts, you can always count on him to grab a donut, an eclair, or one of those fun little pastry “pizzas” with fruit toppings and cream.

His absolute favorite? A simple glazed donut with just the right amount of frosting. And if there’s a custard-filled option available, you can bet he’ll add that to his tray, too.

Boba, Games, and Laughs

After the bakery, we usually stop by a nearby boba shop. Neal wasn’t so sure about boba the first time he tried it, but now he’s a fan—especially if it comes in a sweet milk tea with extra tapioca pearls. One of my favorite memories was when he laughed out loud trying to “catch” the pearls with his straw during his first sip.

Last week, Neal surprised us all by pulling out a deck of cards at the bakery. “Let’s play,” he said, with his usual confident grin. We ended up playing three quick games right there in the café—and he won two out of three!

Why These Little Adventures Matter

There’s something special about sharing a sweet treat with your child, especially when the outing turns into an unexpected game or heartfelt chat. These bakery and boba runs aren’t just about food; they’re about connection.

We get to slow down, ask about school, laugh about our day, and just enjoy being together. And when you pair those moments with a good donut or a creamy milk tea, it becomes the kind of memory that sticks.

Family Tip

Let your kids choose one item they’ve never tried before. It turns the outing into a mini adventure and helps them get more comfortable exploring new foods.

So if you haven’t yet, find a local bakery, grab a tray, and let your little one lead the way. You might discover a new family favorite—along with a lot of sweet smiles.
